Three times Tour de France winner, Alberto Contador, is still not sure if his plans for the 2012 season will be fulfilled or not.
Fate of the cyclist depends on the decision by the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) that is expected to come to a conclusion in January 2012.
Contador said, “The main goal is to win the Tour de France. I know it’s very hard. Everybody wants to win, but I will work hard for it. I do not know if I can win or not, but I’ll try. I want to be as well organized as I can possibly be next year and arrive rested and relaxed for the Tour. [This year] I had a good preparation, but next year I want to make it perfect”.
From Blogs.bettor.com:
He mentioned, “I’m very confident because of all of the controls and the scientific facts supporting my case, I believe there will be a favourable resolution”.
Spanish Cycling Federation cleared the cyclist in February as it accepted that clenbuterol was the result of contaminated beef.
Contador was tested positive for a very small amount of drug which is believed to enhance the aerobic capacity of athletes. There are a number of things which can turn the decision in his favour.
The lab that detected clenbuterol in the sample was equipped with ultra-sensitive machines that can detect even the smallest amount of drug which would otherwise pass the systems, leaving no trace.
The 28-year-old is positive that the court will announce the decision in his favour but wants to get over with the lingering court matters soon.
Contador tested positive for Clenbuterol in 2010 but the decision on his case has not been announced as yet.

The four-day hearing of Alberto Contador at the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) over his positive for clenbuterol in the 2010 Tour finished, with a verdict in the case expected some time early in the New Year.
Contador, the Union Cycliste Internationale (UCI), and World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) all have maintained their initial positions during the hearing in Lausanne, Switzerland.
From Cyclingweekly.co.uk:
The UCI and WADA believe Contador deserves a ban of up to two years for doping, and Contador claims the positive was due to his eating a contaminated steak and that he should go clear.
Contador – unusually for athletes – has been present throughout the hearing, which ended with a 15-minute personal appeal by the Spaniard in defence of his case. However, Contador – who was cross-examined on Wednesday – did not make any comments to the press when he left the CAS building on Thursday afternoon, and neither did WADA and the UCI’s lawyers.
Contador v. the UCI/WADA will also be remembered as the second longest in CAS history after the case of deposed 2006 Tour winner Floyd Landis testing positive for testosterone.

Christine Zadel has been carrying pain and shame for being a banned bodybuilding competitor ever since she was banned for two years after the Australian Sports Anti-Doping Authority released a report on November 9.
The female bodybuilder said she is deeply remorseful for what she describes as “negligence” for the blemish on her career.
From Dailyadvertiser.com.au:
After testing positive for performance enhancers clenbuterol and glycerol during the International Natural Bodybuilding Association state titles in Sydney last year, Mrs Zadel has set about putting her life back together over the past 12 months.
Mrs Zadel believes the “simple mistake” has tarnished her reputation.
“To be honest, there are people out there that do it all the time and I was the unlucky one to get caught,” she said.
“But it’s to the credit of INBA that they crack down so hard on it.
“I can understand there will be a bit of a kerfuffle about it for the next few months but I’ll just have to ride the wave.
“Wagga is such a small town and people will gossip, but I have to try and move on,” she said.

A serious threat to world sport was posed recently after 109 footballers taking part in this summer’s Under-17 World Cup tested positive for the banned anabolic steroid clenbuterol after eating contaminated meat.
The “compelling evidence” that tainted meat was to blame meant no action was taken against any of the affected players by FIFA and the WADA but this seems like a bias as 22 year-old British sprint hurdler Callum Priestley, who is serving a two-year ban after testing positive for clenbuterol while on an official UK Athletics training camp in South Africa in 2010 was accused for failing to prove his innocence.
From Blogs.telegraph.co.uk:
His claims that he had eaten contaminated meat at the UK Athletics hotel, and that he was even treated for food poisoning at the time of his drug test, failed to carry any weight with his disciplinary panel and his punishment was confirmed.
Although his ban expires in February, Priestley, once considered one of Britain’s brightest young track prospects, is so disillusioned by his experience that he has now quit the sport.
Michele Verokken, the former head of anti-doping in Britain, is convinced he was innocent though whether he was really telling the truth we will never be known for sure because once the meat was consumed, the evidence vanished.
In interest of sports, it would be good if countries where there is a proven problem are barred from hosting any major international sporting events until they can correct things at their end.

A current study on the body’s elimination of small doses of clenbuterol could offer new perspectives on identifying non-intentional doping after oral ingestion of contaminated food.
According to scientists from the FIFA Medical Assessment and Research Centre (F-MARC), the Centre for Leisure, Sport and Tourism Research and Development (CLTS, Nicosia, Cyprus), and the Swiss Laboratory for Doping Analyses (Lausanne, Switzerland), the completion of the first stage of a study addressing the still pending matter of food contamination with clenbuterol.
From Fifa.com:
Several countries have been identified where such contamination is frequently found, posing numerous practical, procedural and legal problems for anti-doping organisations and athletes alike. WADA had been informed beforehand about the study and received the approved research protocol.
The study is designed in such way that it simulates the ingestion of food contaminated with clenbuterol, where rather small amounts of the substance enter the body and are then distributed, degraded and eliminated via different routes. All these processes, including the speed in which they take place (known as the pharmacokinetics of a substance) need to be properly understood in order to evaluate the effect of different doses of clenbuterol on the elimination process from an athlete’s body.
The study, sponsored by FIFA, is being conducted by the CLTS at the University of Nicosia, Cyprus and approved by both the Cyprus National Bioethics Committee and the Cyprus Drug Council.

In the world of athletic fitness and strength, clenbuterol is one of the most respected names, especially when it comes to burning fat in less than four to six weeks. Also known as Spiropent, Clen is a selective agonist beta-2-symphatonimetric and a bronchodilator that can reduce specific types of airway obstruction, without much in the way of cardiovascular effect to be used as an asthma drug.
This pre-contest drug exhibits pronounced thermogenic effects as well as mild anabolic properties that are very effective to minimize the number of proteins in muscle cells that enlargement of the muscle cell is easy. Besides all these advantages, clenbuterol is also beneficial to increase the aerobic capacity of an individual outside of the promotion of lean body appearance, prevent water retention, and facilitate the transport of oxygen in the body. The use of Clenbuterol is also associated with a dramatic increase in the form of the composition and size of muscle fibers.
Clenbuterol increases the body temperature to a lesser extent by increased heat production in the mitochondria to increase the basal metabolic rate and reduce appetite. Clenbuterol is also effective in reducing sensitivity to insulin, in addition to being an effective agent repartitioning. It has the ability to improve the ratio of lean body mass and fat reduction.
The ideal dosage of clenbuterol is 1mcg/lb micrograms of body weight twice daily or 100-140 per day for men and 80-100 micrograms per day for women. These doses are best taken in a 3 week on, 3 week off cycle.
Athletes on anabolic steroids and performance enhancing drugs stack Clenbuterol with Cytomel to maximize their own profits and control prolactin.
