The news came after Muhammed Lawal’s positive test for an anabolic steroid and former Strikeforce champion Cristiane Santos also having shown PED use after a December fight under the company’s banner.

Santos was suspended after failing a drug test that led to the removal of her title, according to reports from Sports Illustrated.

“Cyborg” tested positive for the banned substance stanozolol, an anabolic steroid, in the aftermath of her December 17th title defense against Hiroko Yamanaka at Strikeforce: Melendez vs. Masvidal. The 26-year-old promptly received a $2,500 fine, a one-year suspension and the win was reversed to a “no decision.”

“I would like to sincerely apologize to Strikeforce, the Zuffa organization, Hioko Yamanaka and my fans for my failed drug test,” Santos said after the ruling. “I am ultimately responsible for everything I put in my body, and at the end of the day, there is no excuse for having a prohibited substance in my system.”

Despite her expression of regret, Santos has thus far maintained her innocence, stating that the failed test resulted from “a dietary supplement that I was assured was safe and not prohibited from use in sports competition.”

“She’s at home in Curitiba, surrounded by family who supports her wholeheartedly,” the fighter’s manager explained. “She’s recalibrating and trying to put her head around the suspension.”

The featherweight champion, better known as “Cyborg,” tested positive for the anabolic steroid Stanozolol, also known as Winstrol, according to a release by the California State Athletic Commission.

The result of the fight held on the Dec. 17 Strikeforce show at the Valley View Casino Center in San Diego has been overturned by the commission and ruled a no contest.

“Our primary concern is for the health and safety of fighters,” CSAC Executive Officer George Dodd said in a press release sent out on Friday.

Harris was the only one of the four charged with a crime. The department would not comment further because the resignations were a personnel matter, Amos said.

Harris, an 11-year veteran of the Norfolk department, resigned a day after his June 9 arrest. He was charged with 11 drug-related felonies and two misdemeanors, but prosecutors withdrew all but two felony drug charges.

“For 17 years, he was a public servant with an unblemished record, and then he made a mistake,” Harris’ attorney, Peter G. Decker III, said after Wednesday’s court hearing.

Olivier Renière, a running back with the Université de Montréal Carabins who was found to be using a substance on the World Anti-Doping Agency’s 2011 “prohibited list” will be banned for two years from all CIS sports.

Renière’s adverse result came out of testing conducted by the Canadian Centre for Ethics in Sport (CCES) at the Carabins’ training camp Aug. 23. Renière has waived his right to an appeal.

“I admit to having consumed dietary supplements purchased on the internet from the United States in an attempt to save money, and I was well aware of the risk of contamination associated with purchases of this sort and that the Carabins medical team was opposed to players taking dietary supplements,” Renière said in a statement.

“The substance detected by the CCES did not appear on the list of ingredients indicated on these supplements. I deeply regret my decision, and I’m now paying a much higher price by being deprived of playing a sport that has been my passion for years.”

Renière tested positive for 19-norandrosterone, which contains nandrolone, an anabolic steroid.

The “compelling evidence” that tainted meat was to blame meant no action was taken against any of the affected players by FIFA and the WADA but this seems like a bias as 22 year-old British sprint hurdler Callum Priestley, who is serving a two-year ban after testing positive for clenbuterol while on an official UK Athletics training camp in South Africa in 2010 was accused for failing to prove his innocence.
