Desoto County law enforcers involved in steroids investigationIn Desoto County, a Hernando police officer and a firefighter resigned while a steroids trafficking investigation is ongoing. The Mississippi Bureau of Narcotics (MBN) is conducting the investigation.

The two were among those law enforcement officers under investigation in Northwest Mississippi about the steroids trafficking case.

The Mississippi Bureau of Narcotics informed to Hernando Mayor Chip Johnson beforehand of their plans to talk with Fire Chief Hubert Jones and with Hernando Police Chief Mike Riley. Some employees under these departments were already interviewed and so far, no arrest or charges have been made.

Police Chief Riley acknowledged the fact that MBN investigators were able to talk with his police officer. However, to what degree, he does not know.

According to Fire Chief Jones, the firefighter resigned for “personal reasons”. However, he confirmed that MBN investigators were able to talk with his firefighter before he resigned. Jones knew very little of the investigation.

The police officer who resigned also served as a former dispatcher for almost two years.

Southaven Police Chief Tom Long said he was not contacted by MBN officers, so he assumes that nobody from his department is involved.
