Kansas business owner indicted in steroid case

Federal prosecutors alleged in an indictment that a Kansas business owner and a Maryland doctor illegally distributed more than $1.3 million worth of anabolic steroids.

According to court records, Baltazar, who allegedly wrote the prescriptions, did not see the patients in person.

From Kansascity.com:

Scott Lofquist, 51, of Fairway, and Rodney Baltazar, 48, of Elkton, Md., conspired to distribute 1.3 million units of steroids through Lifetime Wellness, Lofquist’s business, between 2008 and 2010, the indictment alleges.

Lofquist operated the business out of his home and from the home of another person in Kansas City, according to court records.

He allegedly sold the drugs to those trying to reverse the course of aging and to bodybuilders and athletes seeking to improve their performance.

Prosecutors are asking a judge to order the men to forfeit $1.36 million in proceeds from the alleged scheme.

Clenbuterol – Best Weight Loss Drug

If you are a perfect weight loss drug that can even help you improve the level of performance before and during a competitive event, Clenbuterol or Spiropent is the performance-enhancing drug for you.

Clenbuterol that is also known by names such as Clen, Clenbuteral, Ventipulmin, Contraspasmina, and Broncodil can be classified as a anti-catabolic anabolic that doesn’t promote water retention while leading to weight loss improvements.

The chemical formula of Clenbuterol is C12H18 CI2N2O and its chemical name is 4-Amino-alpha-[(tert-butylamino)methyl]-3,5-dichlorobenzyl alcohol Monohydrochloride. It has the molecular weight of base at 277.193 g/mol. It has an active half-life of approximately 35-40 hours.

The drug has the ability to improve the levels of aerobic capacity, oxygen transportation, and blood pressure and is recommended to individuals suffering from severe health complications such as bronchial asthma, pulmonary emphysema, asthmatic bronchitis, and acute and chronic spastic bronchitis. Clen is not recommended to people having a hypersensitivity to the drug or its ingredients and is not advised to pregnant or pregnancy-suspecting women because of its tocolytic action.

In order to maintain its shelf life and reap optimum benefits, Clenbuterol must be stored at a controlled room temperature of 15-30° C.

Judge declares mistrial in Clemens case

The perjury trial of Roger Clemens, the former baseball star, in a mistrial the judge blamed on prosecutors and said a “first-year law student” would have known to avoid.

U.S. District Judge Reggie Walton left the question of a new trial up in the air.

From Sports.yahoo.com:

“Mr. Clemens has to get a fair trial,” Walton said. “In my view, he can’t get it now.”

Defense attorney Rusty Hardin, who had asked for the mistrial declaration, patted an unsmiling Clemens on the back as the judge announced his decision. As he left the courthouse, Clemens did not comment but accepted hugs from a couple of court workers, shook hands with the security guards and autographed baseballs for fans waiting outside.

The quick end on only the second day of testimony was the second mistrial involving a superstar player accused in baseball’s steroids scandal. Home run king Barry Bonds was convicted three months ago of obstruction of justice, but a mistrial was called on three more serious false-statements charges after jurors couldn’t agree on a verdict.

Judge called a halt to the trial under way after prosecutors showed jurors evidence that he had ruled out videotaped revelations that a teammate had said he did told his wife Clemens confessed to using a drug.

Khan on steroids like Pacquiao, claims Mayweather

Roger Mayweather has claimed that reigning light welterweight champion Amir Khan is likely into performance enhancing drugs.

Mayweather previously accused ring icon Manny Pacquiao of steroids use.

From Gmanews.tv:

The allegations obviously stemmed shortly after the 24-year-old Khan’s remarkable fifth-round knockout of Zab Juddah to unify the World Boxing Association (WBA) and International Boxing Federation (IBF) 140-pound title belts.

The Bolton, England-born Khan is Pacquiao’s regular sparmate and also trains under Freddie Roach.

Like Khan, Pacquiao had been accused time and again by the Mayweathers—including Floyd Jr and his father—of being under performance enhancing drugs, an allegation that forced the Filipino boxing champion of taking them to court.

Clean fighter

Khan denied he’s ever used steroids, even stressing that he’ll agree to any drug-testing procedure if and when the Mayweathers would insist on it should a fight between the two of them materialize in the near future.

“I am clean fighter. I get drug-tested in between, before and after fights,” Khan told SkySports.

Prescription drug dealer arrested on new charge

A man who was accused of being one of the biggest prescription drug dealers in Levy County when arrested in April has been arrested on a new, rarely used charge.

Larry Andy Meeks Jr., 29, of 9750 NW 60th Ave. in Chiefland, was charged with possession of anabolic steroids.

From Gainesville.com:

Meeks was initially arrested April 7 by the Levy County Sheriff’s Office Drug Task Force for two counts of sale with intent to distribute and two counts of possession with intent to sell prescription pills (oxycodone).

While executing a search warrant at Meeks’ home, task force members said they seized some drugs, weapons and ammunition, along with a large amount of cash and four vials of clear liquid and a syringe. The liquid substance was sent to a Florida Department of Law Enforcement laboratory to be analyzed.

Meeks was arrested again after the task force was notified that the liquid was Trenbolone enanthate, an anabolic steroid.

Court ruling to be challenged by NFL

There is “no merit” to the court ruling that awarded Pat Williams and Kevin Williams a temporary restraining order, according to the NFL.

Pat and Kevin Williams were among six players suspended by the NFL for testing positive for a drug on the league’s list of banned substances.

From Espnstar.com:

Attorneys for the Vikings Pro Bowl tackles won a reprieve in Hennepin County District Court tonight, a spokesman for the court confirmed to PA Sport.

However, Judge Gary Larson will have the parties back in court tomorrow to hear more extensive arguments on the matter.

The NFL will contest the ruling, said spokesman Greg Aiello, noting that the NFL policy on steroids and related substances was collectively bargained between the league and the NFL Players’ Association.

“The program and the Collective Bargaining Agreement expressly bar precisely this kind of lawsuit,” Aiello said in an e-mail to PA Sport.

The league addressed that argument in its statement.

“With respect to the question of whether a specific warning should have been given regarding StarCaps, the policy does not set forth an obligation to issue specific warnings about specific products and no testimony suggests that the NFL and NFLPA have ever contemplated imposing such a requirement on Dr Lombardo, who oversees the development of education materials on steroids,” a statement by NFL read.

Akkunji’s London Olympics dreams are virtually over

The London Olympics dreams of dope tainted athlete Ashwini Akkunji are virtually over as her ‘B’ sample also tested positive for anabolic steroids.

Akkunji now faces the prospect of a two-year ban for her offence.

From Timesofindia.indiatimes.com:

Ashwini and Priyanka had their ‘B’ samples tested on Thursday at the National Dope Testing Laboratory and the results, which came on Monday, confirmed the presence of methandienone in them.

“We have received papers from the NADA that both Ashwini and Priyanka’s ‘B’ samples have tested positive for the same anabolic steroids found in their ‘A’ sample,” Athletics Federation of India Director M L Dogra said.

Ashwini and Priyanka, who were caught for doping just hours before they were to leave the country for the July 7-10 Asian Athletics Championships in Japan, will now be heard by a NADA Disciplinary Panel.

Ashwini and Priyanka have been provisionally suspended by the AFI pending the decision by the NADA panel.

Charges against ex-NBA player dismissed

Samaki Walker, a former NBA player, who was arrested on drug charges, is now a free man as an Arizona prosecutor has dismissed charges against him.

Deputy Mohave County Attorney Greg McPhillips remarked that he will reconsider bringing charges against Walker once lab analysis offers a good idea about what types of drugs were found in his 2002 Mercedes-Benz during a routine traffic stop in Kingman on July 28.

From Lvrj.com:

A state Department of Public Safety officer said the 35-year-old Woodland Hills, Calif., resident was eating marijuana as he approached the vehicle after the stop at 11:30 p.m. The officer noted in a report that about 10 grams of marijuana were found in the vehicle along with prescription pills and eight vials of liquid steroids or human growth hormones.

McPhillips said he needs to know more about the 268 pills and the steroids before he knows whether and which criminal charges might be appropriate. A narcotic task force commander said Walker told officers that the steroids are legal where he plays basketball overseas.

Walker starred at the University of Louisville before beginning a 10-year NBA career that ended in 2006.
