SARMs or Selective Androgen Receptor Modulators are in great demand in today’s times due to their performance improvement qualities, according to researchers from the German Sport University Cologne in Germany.
Selective Androgen Receptor Modulators represents a class of therapeutics that are used for treating health problems such as sarcopenia, osteoporosis, benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH), and cancer cachexia.
From Sciencedaily.com:
In 2008, the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) prohibited the use of SARMs in sports due to their potential for misuse. WADA closely cooperates with pharmaceutical and biotechnological companies, as well as medicine agencies and drug evaluation bodies on the issue of therapeutics being misused in sports. WADA’s preventive approach was validated with the recent finding of a commercially available, non-approved arylpropionamide-derived SARM termed Andarine. This product, declared as green tea extracts and face moisturizer to pass customs, was available on the Internet at a discount price of $100 USD.
SARMs are now in great demand among sportsmen as they offer benefits of traditional anabolic/androgenic steroids such as testosterone with fewer unwanted side effects.

The bodybuilding community in Afghanistan has always been on a high and competitors always admire the idea of showing off their painstakingly toned muscles, contorting their bodies and tensing their metallic bottoms, backs, thighs, and stomachs to win the Mr. Afghanistan title.
During the times of Talibans, there were very few good clubs where the Afghans could train but now things have changed for the better.
From in.reuters.com:
“The television only shows the men from the waist up and they say which provinces they are from, but won’t name them,” smiles Mohammad Reza, who trained one of the finalists.
Reza was more worried about the use of steroids and synthetic hormones by some competitors.
“Their wives are worried about their health, some have problems having children,” said Reza, adding that drugs were available “everywhere”.
None of the competitors interviewed by Reuters admitted to taking performance-enhancing drugs.
“This is absolutely not allowed. All the competitors here have been tested. There is no doubt that today none of these men are using the drugs. We fine anyone who’s found using them 50,000 afs ($1,000),” said Farhid Ahmad Sediqi, head of Afghanistan’s union for sport and athletics.
Shukrullah Shakili from Helmand province in southern Afghanistan, one of the most dangerous parts of the country, was named Mr. Afghanistan 2009.
Shakili remarked that he had done body building when the austere, Islamist Taliban ruled Afghanistan.

Believe it or not, a big majority of potential steroid users is more concerned about estrogen side effects such as fluid retention and gynecomastia than seeking “authorization” with a medical prescription in context of use of steroids. However, all these worries can be kept at bay by opting for Arimidex, world’s most preferred antiestrogen.
Arimidex, known to many as Liquidex or Anastrozole, is one of the most popular antiestrogens used and recommended by professional sportsmen and gym instructors to inhibit excess formation of estrogens. Initially developed as a drug to treat advanced breast cancer in women, Arimidex soon gained popularity as an effective antiestrogen that works at low doses of just 1 mg per day.
Categorized in the class of 3rd generation selective oral aromatase inhibitors, Arimidex is rated superior to Clomid and Nolvadex when it comes to reducing or eliminating estrogen formation and assisting users of anabolic steroids and performance enhancing drugs to think and act ahead of the rest.
Arimidex has an active life of approximately 48 hours and considered as a rescue drug during steroid cycles. In the world of healthcare, Arimidex is also used during testosterone replacement therapy for hypogonadal men.
It is, however, important to note that use of Arimidex should always be initiated after advice of a medical practitioner as abuse (knowingly or unknowingly) of this drug could result in side effects such as dyspnea, bone pain, nausea, vomiting, and arthritis. In case any abnormality is experienced after use of this drug, such use should be immediately discontinued and medical advice must be sought on an urgent basis.

According to a Home Office-funded report, gay men and lesbians are at an increased risk from drug misuse than heterosexuals and there is an urgent need to rethink by addiction agencies and doctors support minority groups.
The UK Drug Policy Commission suggested that drug services are of little use to many in lesbian, gay, bisexual and trans-sexual (LGBT) groups.
From Guardian.co.uk:
The study, led by Professor Haleh Afshar, who is a member of the commission and a crossbench peer, finds:
■ Illicit drug use among LGBT groups is higher than among their heterosexual counterparts
■ LGBT people may also be at risk of misusing other drugs, such as steroids
■ Use of some types of drugs may be associated with risky behaviour, including exposure to HIV infection.
The report quotes findings from the British Crime Survey which estimate that 10% of heterosexuals took drugs last year, compared with 33% of gay or bisexual people. Explanations vary as to why these groups appear to be heavier drug users than heterosexuals. Tris Reid-Smith, editor-in-chief of the Pink Paper, which is working with the Home Office to publicise the report’s findings, said: “Nobody can know and we’re just guessing. Relatively little research has been done on this subject.”Reid-Smith acknowledged that gay people are often “neophiliacs”. “We tend to be early adopters of technology; maybe we are early adopters of other things too,” he said.
New approaches such as use of social networking sites for changing drug-use behavior among lesbian, gay, bisexual and trans-sexual (LGBT) groups must be created and implemented by health officials to prevent drug abuse.

The Commonwealth 400m champion from Sydney, John Steffensen, has parted ways with controversial coach Larry Wade in the lead-up to his first international race of the Olympic year.
Wade proved to be a contentious choice in the first place given that the former US hurdler served a two-year ban for using 19-norandrosterone, an anabolic steroid.
From Foxsports.com.au:
The sudden urge to purge comes on the eve of Steffensen’s 400m race in the adidas Classic in Carson, California, on May 18.
And on May 19 another famous – some would say infamous – sprints coach, Trevor Graham, will go on trial for perjury in a San Francisco court.
Graham coached Sydney Olympic 100m and 200m winner Marion Jones, who is currently in jail after admitting she used performance-enhancing drugs.
US authorities will allege that Graham lied about knowing, much less having dealings with, Texas-based former Mexican discus thrower Angel Heredia, a self-confessed dealer in performance-enhancing drugs.
And Heredia has revealed enough evidence, published in The New York Times, to indicate that the collateral damage will spread from Graham’s group to other coaches and athletes, allegedly including John Smith’s HSI coaching group for which Larry Wade, the squad’s one-time star 110m hurdler and a medal favourite for the Olympic Games in Athens, was an assistant coach.
Steffensen’s manager, Chris Giannopoulos of IMG, confirmed the split with Wade, and said that several coaching options were being assessed.

Three ‘legal high’ drugs will be banned by the year end after use of these drugs was associated with at least two deaths.
The three drugs are the cannabis substitute Spice, the amphetamine alternative BZP, and GBL, a legal alternative to the class C drug GHB.
From Guardian.co.uk:
Johnson said the Home Office would launch a campaign next month to inform people about the risks associated with the drugs, including serious heart problems, vomiting, anxiety attacks, mood swings and seizures.
“There is a perception that many of the so called ‘legal highs’ are harmless,” the home secretary said.
“However, in some cases people can be ingesting dangerous industrial fluids or smoking chemicals that can be even more harmful than cannabis.”
Spice will be classified as a class B drug, which means users could face up to five years in prison as well as a fine.
Those dealing the drug could get up to 14 years in prison and a fine.
Both GBL and BZP will be classified as class C drugs, which means users could face a two-year jail term and dealers could get up to 14 years.
